Welcome to Chapter 72 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart located in Portland, Oregon. The Military Order of the Purple Heart is a veterans service organization chartered by Congress. Every member is a veteran who has been wounded in combat and awarded a Purple Heart. Our National Headquarters is located in Springfield, Virginia. The Order now includes about 43,000 total members, organized into 6 geographical Regions, 49 State Departments, and 499 Chapters. The Oregon Department currently has just over 400 members. Our own chapter, Chapter 72, has 194 members.
The three primary objectives of the organization are to (1) foster an environment of goodwill and camaraderie among Combat Wounded Veterans, (2) promote Patriotism, (3) and most importantly, provide service to all veterans and their families..
Chapter #72 initiates and/or participates in various patriotic events and functions. We provide services to all veterans as well as those who have been awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received in combat. We are proud to be one of the few chapters in the nation to have a female member who was awarded the Purple Heart for wounds received in combat.
If you were awarded a Purple Heart and you live in, around, or near Portland,
